One, Two, Three, Four…
Sarah recently celebrated her 26 birthday. As a tradition, we always take each other out for a birthday meal; she usually try’s a new, local restaurant whereas I have chosen Arby’s the last five years running.
During these meals we always take time to reflect on the previous year. As we went over the highlights of Sarah’s 26th year, we were reminded of how many different places we’d lived in just 365 days.
Home One: We started in our downtown apartment, but as the responsibility of working full time and caretaking for the building grew, we needed a change.
Home Two: In April we began renting a basement from a friend in Charleswood. Moving from the city’s core area to a suburb on the edge of town was a big change. We lived there until July, when we then became “vagabonds”.
“Home” Three: For the next four months we travelled through Europe staying at hostels, hotels, and with people we met along the way.
Home Four: Upon return to Winnipeg in December we had another set of friends welcome us into their home; a cozy two bedroom apartment. Coincidentally they have recently bought a house for themselves and we will be moving once again.
We have had a lot of change over the last year. It’s been a wild ride that I wouldn’t change it for anything. I am excited to see what the next year brings and to continue this adventure called life.
